BON Weekend!

OUTER BEAUTY
Yes, it´s the weekend! What are you up to this weekend? We look forward to a weekend with a large family barbeque with my husbands brothers, wifes and kids (need a big grill:), do a little makeover in the garden patio, wearing new summer dresses, minimal makeup, beach hair and just hanging at the beach (which is a full time job with three young kids though:). I will also squeese in a late dinner with three of my close girlfriends who I will (try to) treat with a fresh pappardelle pasta with truffles, asparagus, parma ham and a lot of parmiggiano, in cream. And have some great wine to that. Have not done this pasta before, but this is an attempt to reproduce a truly marvellous similar pasta dish my husband and I had at restaurant Sturehof in Stockholm the other weekend. Of course Nigella would have pulled this one off easily, but for me it remains to be seen...

Have a lovely WEEKEND
and see you on Monday!

Bubbles for celebration!

INNER/OUTER BEAUTY
Today is a special day for me, since my beloved grandmother turns 100 years! She still lives in her beautiful apartment filled with a lifetime of memories, and even gathers the 30 closest relatives for a small celebration. Of course her children fix everything for today and I suspect she actually will just sit in her sofa and take it all in, but still she´s having us over. Why I am telling you this is because through all my life she has been a source of inspiration for my own concept of inner and outer beauty, since I believe we need both in life in some form to be balanced, happy and to look great. My grandmother is a spiritual person (no specific religion though) and has been meditating daily for the last 50 years. She has also taught many others the art of meditation. And she has always told me since childhood how important it is to have a rich inner life. At the same time she really appreciates outer beauty, always well dressed and her hair done, being a shallow person enjoying all outer pleasures there are as well. If you ask my grandmother how she became this old, one of the reasons is that she has had a good mix of both in life. One of the main rules she has taught me is to always keep Champagne in the fridge, ready to celebrate whatever the small occasion. That´s a good and easy rule to follow I think.

I hope you cherish and celebrate your FRIDAY!
(and thank you for being here, you make my day!)

Words to live by

INNER BEAUTY
This is such a memorable quote, from the great Nora Ephron, who no longer are with us but gave us so many laughs and cries through her movies. So, if we only remember one thing today, let us be the heroines of our own lives.

Now, I´m taking the kids to the beach, finally! See you later, then we are going to talk beach hair...

Let´s take a swim

OUTER BEAUTY
With the summer long gone, at least according to the poor weather, I treat myself to dreaming of this spectacular house. It´s almost like having an indoor pool...

Have a lovely Wednesday!

Real power

INNER BEAUTY
"When we loose the spiritual dimension in life, our daily life seems to be covered in a grey blanket. When you are in contact with your soul, and dare to let it guide you, you will be happy. It´s in the soul we have our real magical power and capacity".

Karin Nordlander, author of the book "Dreamlife - happy for real

Where can you see yourself...

Manhattan penthouse
James Belushis Los Angeles home

Fourth-floor terrace in Japan

Caribbean island of Mustique
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

OUTER BEAUTY
Five beautiful, but all rather different, outdoor patios and terraces from around the globe, featured by the favourite magazine Architechtural Digest . If you could choose, wich one can you picture yourself enjoying the most? Which one makes your heart goes a little faster? Of course I have no problem of seeing myself in all of these, but if I must make a decision I would go for the Manhattan penthouse, tightly followed by the homey Mustique veranda... Which one would you pick?

The dinner {I do! part 3}

OUTER BEAUTY
The formal wedding dinner may very well be the dinner of the lifetime. It´s not often so many people that you appreciate and love are gathered at the same place, at the same table! I know the wedding dinners vary a lot depending on the country. In Sweden the dinner may very well take 4-5 hours, since there can be up to 20 speeches (that is considered a lot though:) from friends and relatives. A beautiful table setting sets the mood for the dinner party!
