City girl or country girl - part 2

OUTER BEAUTY
By the way, regarding to the earlier blog post from Tuesday about choosing the city or the country...
Isn´t this a wonderful photo of how to get (some) country life in the city:).

Have a marvellous Thursday,
soon it´s the weekend!

Ps, Tomorrow we will visit a fabulous Malibu house, home to a Hollywood family who devoted their soul to create their home.

{real life beauty } According to...

OUTER BEAUTY
...my friend A; a gorgeous blond, natural beauty, 35+ who is known for her absolutely flawless skin and makeup (of course among other things:).

Tell us what you use daily and what are your favourite products that you always come back to?

Body: Bodylotion from Body Works, which I use instead of perfume, and the Stress relief actually works! Vanilla Verbena is it called.

Hair: Best hairspray is by Schwarzkopf and is called Glamour Queen, of course! I use it in medium and this is a dry hairspray that lasts all day and is easy to comb out.

Skin: YSL Teint resist for its lovely consistency and SPF 10. This smoothly goes onto the skin withouth being "cakey".
A foundation that I use for parties is Dermalogicas named Treatment foundation, for that glow!

Bronze: All time best product comes from ACO (only available in Swedish pharmacists). Gives the best colour and can be put over the ordinary foundation for that extra glow.
Another beautiful summer powder comes from Bodyshop and is called Golden Bronze. I put it on everything as a finishing touch. Amazing!

Eyes: Victorias Secret eyeshadow in white in the corner of the eye followed by Stilas shimmering "Kitten".
During summer time I use Lancôme Starlette 001 which is a beautiful loose silvery powder to wear under eye.
The mascara from Clinique, Lash power mascara long wearing formula, keeps its promise and there are no panda eyes in sight.
Best eyelash curler comes from...Bodyshop! I have thrown all others out, including Shu Uemuras...

Moisturizer:
I always use the same facial moisturizer, Skin soothing cream from Dermalogica, for day and night but complement with the serum Overnight Repair during night. The Cleansing gel from Dermalogica is also amazing, it takes away everything, even eye makeup. Love all-in-one!

Lips:
Kiehls lipbalm is a life saver, especially during flying.
And, I could not live without all the wonderful lipglosses from Victorias Secret Beauty Rush.

City girl or country girl?

OUTER BEAUTY
Are you a city girl or a country girl? I am a city girl. Definitely. At heart. I have always loved a great apartment with high ceiling and stucco. Or...every time I come home to this, the favourite tree in our garden, I consider myself a (rather newborn) lucky country girl, blessed to have a garden and a patio this time of year. Hmmmm...I guess you can be both, or that life goes in phases?

It would be really interesting to hear what you consider yourself as? Am I the only one sometimes dreaming of both?

Words to live by

INNER BEAUTY
Monday. Again...Let´s kick start this week with these wise words from Carrie Bradshaw. Maybe even make those simple but powerful words our own little theme of the week? I am not saying it´s easy, but don´t you agree with me that we could all go so much further in life with this attitude?

What are you up to this weekend? I hope you have a lovely one. I am planning to hang on the beach with my family, take my mother for mothers day lunch in Copenhagen and dine al fresco in the evenings. And drink chilled rosé wine.

Beauty never goes out of style

OUTER BEAUTY
One of the worlds most stylish women, the late Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, proves that real style and beauty never goes out of style. Carolyn Bessette grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut and was voted  "All-Around Beautiful Person" in high school. She then went on to Boston University, and later went to work for Calvin Klein, where she is said to have met John F. Kennedy Jr. Carolyn Bessette and John F. Kennedy Jr. married in an intimate ceremony at Cumber Island September 21, 1996. During the coming years they were, much to Carolyns style and beauty, the target of photographers. She once said that "never wear more than three colours at once", and that "black, white and camel are always stylish and goes together". She also is said to have coined the perfect blonde hair colour as "society blonde", mentioned in Plum Sykes chic lit book "Bergdorf Blondes". The couple lived in a loft flat in TriBeCa in New York and was often seen out and about town. The fatal day came when they were heading for a Kennedy wedding at Marthas Vineyard July 16, 1999. The plane that John F. Kennedy Jr. himself flew, tragically crashed with his wife and Carolyns sister onboard. If  you want to read more inside details about this famous and stylish couple, pick up a copy of What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship and Love by Carole Radziwill, married to John F. Kennedy Jr:s cousin. It´s a great book and gives an insight in their life, friendship, problems and happiness during marriage, and that tragic day when the accident hit. What remains today of Carolyn, I think, is to remind us of that true beauty never is outdated (and I don´t think she had any botox at all:) and that style is timeless. She would have been a great and natural style icon even for today.

Do you have a style icon, and who is it? We can all use some inspiration, so please share!

Wish you the best Friday!

OUTER BEAUTY
With temperatures like a hot summer day in July today, this is the only thing on my mind. Ohhh what a pool would do well in the garden...

Creative visualization part 3

INNER BEAUTY
Today we are back at the creative visualization process based on the bestselling book by Shakti Gawain. Since there are so many new readers here since we started this book (thank you and welcome!), if you missed the intro part please start here. You will also learn how the über successful net-a-porter.com founder Natalie Massenet used this book and process in creating her dream company from scratch...

3.
Being. Doing. Having.
Three simple but yet important words in the creative visualization process according to Shakti Gawain. Being is being alive and conscious, in the present moment. Doing is activity and movement. Having is a relationship with other people and things, to allow and accept things into our lives. Those three words are like a triangle where each side supports the other. They all exists simultaneously not conflicting each other.

According to Shakti Gawain we often attempt to live our life backward. We try to have more things or money, in order to do more of what we want, so that we will be happier. But, according to the author the way it actually works is the reverse. We must first be who we really are, then do what we need to do, in order to have what we want.

She means that the purpose of creative visualization is:
To connect with our being.
To help us focus and facilitate our doing.
To deepen, expand and align our having.

Blog tips!
Apart from reading this book, there are also many resources online, like the wonderful blog lagen om attraktion written by Tess. Here you can go direct on her blog and watch a short video (in English) that explains more about the process, according to the Secrets John Assaraf, who is helping people visualize, set goals and reach their goals.

Good luck friends,
and don´t forget to daily visualize the life that you want to create for you:)

Could this be beauty magic?

OUTER BEAUTY
This is currently on my beauty whish lish. Saw it in NY, did not buy it, thought of buying it on Newark airport, until realizing there are almost no beauty neccessities to buy on that airport...but fortunately this is being launched this week in Scandinavia. So, this is why I must have YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvre, urgently; it is said to have the shine of a gloss, the staying power of a stain and the colour density of a lipstick. Could it be any better? The only other lip colour really staying on (they all say they will but never do) is Maxfactor Lipfinity, though it does not really deliver on the glossy part. So I look forward trying this out. Just like the application of Lipfinity, this YSL one should be applied through swiping the colour on, then wait 10 seconds for it to set. And try to resist to rub the lips together. You can buy it at sephora.com, where buyers rated this lip gloss 4,3 out of 5, which is considered doing rather well I would say.

And, since were on it, this colour guide tells when to wear what colour. For this spring/summer I love the "Grocery store" and "wedding guest/dinner party". What are you favourite colours?
