Well, the trick apparently is to approaching the conversation by acting as though you´re asking on someone else's behalf, let´s say your best friend. That means you knock out narcissism. Then start listing your successes, which is much easier when thinking of your achievements and worth when negotiating for someone else. And never apologise for asking, ever.
