Fab at 40 - Gwyneth Paltrow

OUTER BEAUTY
A celebrity that just keeps getting more beautiful over the years is Gwyneth Paltrow. She recently turned the magic 40, so she is our next portrait in the series "Fab at 40". (In case you missed the first it was Elizabeth Hurley). The other night when taking my long, hot bath I indulged in InStyle and read this great interview with Gwyneth Paltrow. Here are some of Gwyneths best from that interview.

On life
"I have a way to go, but I feel like I´m on the right track"

On her dad (producer-director Bruce Paltrow, who died in 2002)
"My dad and I had one of those incredibly lucky, love-of-your-life relationships. The main reason I believe in myself comes from my father. I felt so understood by him."

On her mum (the actress Blythe Danner)
"My mother gave me an appreciation for my inner life and for imagination, music and beauty. Walking through the woods! She is a sensual person and I can feel how rich her inner life is."

On the success of marriage
"I would say it's because I focus more on understanding than on being understood."

On a healthy diet
"I was very strict for a while. What I´ve learnt is I want to enjoy my life and food is a big part of it. I love to cook and feed people. I don´t like sweets. My indulging is a fresh baguette with cheese and a glass of red wine, or French fries and fried zucchini. Or a turkey burger."

On her hair
"It´s simple: good hair is good nutrition. And I leave my hair alone. I don´t blow-dry it every day. I let it go frizzy and big."

On her skin
"I´m not the best when it comes to products and treatments. I don´t know how to do make-up well. At my core, I´m a little preppy and a little irreverent and together, that makes me sort of not care (when not in the public eye). I´m more of a natural girl."

On turning 40
"I´m taking stock and really looking at everything. I´m trying to accept myself. There's a Rumi poem, "The guest house", about welcoming all aspects of yourself: the dark, the light, the jealous, the happy. Let them all in. But know that you´re not defined by any single one of them."

As told by Gwyneth Paltrow to her fabulous friend Diane von Furstenberg interviewing for InStyle Magazine UK.

  5. Thank you for sharing it! I wanted to buy the mag, but that over photoshopped cover image just put me off... Probably silly, but visuals have a huge influence on my shopping habits. I just think that she is so beautiful that there was no need to go that far with airbrushing. Also I thought she was a vegetarian.... I guess things changed. xxx

  9. I enjoyed that article about GP on my recent trip to London/Paris for the holidays. I used her GOOP app on my iPad for hot tips in London. She is fun and has great style. Love your blog-it's always a chic little stop.
    Cheers, xx Heather

  11. She is incredible, I really like her. My two favorites were her tip for a good marriage and about welcoming in the good the bad and the ugly. We are all mixed bags. Thanks for the inspiration I so badly needed. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
