New decor crush launch

OUTER BEAUTY
Home is where the heart is for many of us, not surprisingly considering we spend a lot of time there. A highly anticipated new interiors-hang-out-place on the Internet is the launch of DOMAINE today, offering shopping, style and inspiration for the home. The force behind this new site is the two co-workers Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power, who also co-founded another favourite; WHOWHATWEAR. I don´t know how they do it, but this is another success site from the duo in short time. Web tip of the day...

INNER BEAUTY
DAY 2
Face your problems head on
It isn’t your problems that define you, but how you react to them and recover from them.  Problems will not disappear unless you take action.  Do what you can, when you can, and acknowledge what you’ve done.  It’s all about taking baby steps in the right direction, inch by inch.  These inches count, they add up to yards and miles in the long run.

Remember, baby steps count. And our own reaction to problem is everything. Attitude is everything. Make your choice.

The Monday Pep Talk | 5 steps to self-confidence NOW

INNER BEAUTY
By now we all know that self-confidence is highly linked to success. Here are five essentials to free you from self-doubt.

SELF-CONFIDENCE IS SELF-LOVE

The first step in gaining it back (if you lost it) is to spend more time appreciating who you are. Self-love is nothing else but appreciating and honouring yourself, giving love back to the world.

2 LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD

The clothes you wear and how you feel in your own skin can make or break your self-confidence. Go through your closet and keep only the items that make you feel like a million bucks.

3 COMMIT YOUR GOALS TO PAPER

Accomplishing a goal can dramatically boost one's self-worth. But you can't reach a goal without identifying it first. Write down at least a couple of goals that you want to accomplish by the end of the week.

4 TAKE RISKS

Approach each occasion as an opportunity to learn. Self-confidence means accepting the occasional defeat while not allowing it to deter you from your goals.

5 FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT

Act as if you are feeling one hundred percent confident, even if you´re not. The best way to deal with fear or self-doubt it to just confront it head on sometimes.

OUTER BEAUTY
DAY 1
Spend time with the right people
These are the people you enjoy, who love and appreciate you, and who encourage you to improve in healthy and exciting ways.  They are the ones who make you feel more alive, and not only embrace who you are now, but also embrace and embody who you want to be, unconditionally.

Think about who they are, and if you have to, cleanse out those persons in your life that are wrong for you. This may seem hard, but it could also mean you make room for new people to enter  your life.

"It happens to everyone as they grow up. You find out who you are and what you want, and then you realize that people you've known forever don't see things the way you do. So you keep the wonderful memories, but find yourself moving on."
― Nicholas Sparks

Because girls just want to have fun [she grew up though]

We´ve loved her from Girls just want to have fun (that´s all they really want:)...
...to our very own Carrie Bradshaw from SATC.
Welcome home to SJP and husband Matthew Broderick (remember the hilarious Ferris Bueller?)
Soft spoken colours
Very city clean Boffi kitchen
Bathing in style
Loving this magazine display, hmm...which one to choose of all the latest issues...
Ultimate luxury in NYC, your own green slice of heaven
OUTER BEAUTY
Apparently Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick are owning two houses in Greenwich Village in New York, and this one is for sale (or has been sold) according to hookedonhouses.net. Since we love Carrie (and I still miss SATC the series) we can at least indulge a little in her home. And that little green patio in the middle of the city...

Happy FRIDAY!

Handbag CRUSH

LUGGAGE PHANTOM IN SUPPLE CALFSKIN PEARL GREY

OUTER BEAUTY
Shoe or handbag girl? I love shoes, but I am a true handbag girl at heart and soul. I can´t help it, but I actually fall in love with handbags. This is my latest crush, and a rather big one. It´s the extremely popular Boston tote from CÉLINE in a new updated version. It´s not that I haven´t thought about it before, but I guess I had to see it in the Summer 2013 colour Pearl Grey to be struck by lightning. Unfortunately (or maybe this is good news:), this is not an easy colour to find, so I guess I will keep on daydreaming...but it would have been awfully nice...

Have you thought about it? Self-pity vs self-care

INNER BEAUTY
The difference between self-care and self-pity is the key to a positive outcome. "Self-care means paying attention to your needs and taking positive steps to look after yourself, emotionally and physically, when times are tough"says Dr Cecilia D´Felice in an article in Red Magazine. "Replacing self-pity with self-care begins with the understanding that we have the capacity to make ourselves feel better." I recently came across this great article and realised that I, and I guess many with me, don´t often think about the difference between the two concepts, and it´s really good to know the difference so that we can actively make a choice. "When you´re unhappy, though, it can be hard to distinguish between self-pity and self-care. Turning into your capacity of self-care means listening to your inner voice." Self-pity often comes from feelings of anger, hatred or envy and often starts a sentence with I never, It´s always or It´s not fair." Self-care is about being responsible for ourselves, explains Dr D´Felice. "When we feel sorry for ourselves, our fantasy is that someone will come and rescue us, from when we are tiny children we are told that a prince will come. But we don´t always realise that our "prince" is inside us - it´s our resourcefulness and our creativity, and so we are more than capable of rescuing ourselves."

How to learn self-care

According to Dr D´Felice there are some questions that we can ask ourselves in order to learn self-care:

What do I feel?
What do I need?
What can I give myself right now that will make this feel more manageable (food, sleep, exercise?)
How is this experience affecting me?

If we learn the art of listening to ourselves, and thereby our true needs, it will make self-care much easier, putting us back in control, which is far better off than self-pity:)

The Monday Pep Talk

INNER BEAUTY
You might have seen this one before. But some things in life are definitely worth repeating. I think this is one of those things. We live in a society where in general it is important to impress other people. Sometimes we´re aware of it and sometimes not. Either way, let´s not forget to treat ourselves with a little tender, love and care and blow our own minds away once in a while. It´s refreshing. It´s liberating. It´s unexpected. Let´s do it for this Monday.

And, come back here later today for participating in a great give-a-way...

DAY 27
Stay in your pajamas all day.

Well, this is actually perfect since it´s Sunday. But if the sun is shining maybe better get outside...and hop into that pajamas for a cozy night on the couch watching a feelgood movie. Sunday evenings are perfect for this. And have some popcorn to it. Apparently popcorn is the new blueberry, full of antioxidants.

BON Weekend! [PINK wine testing]

OUTER BEAUTY
What are you up to this weekend? We´re hosting a wine tasting dinner. We are ten friends that take turns arranging wine tastings among us, usually one or two times a year. Tonight it is time for me and my husband. We have done this in our little group several times by now, and we´ve tried red or white wine every time. So this time, being a start for the spring and summer season, we decided to try out rosé wines. Our wine tasting is always a blind test with protocols, and usually takes part before or during the starter course. After that you can choose to continue with the wines you gave the highest marks. We´re no wine snobs, so there´s no spitting out the wine:) The rules for our wine tastings are that the hosting couple fix all the wines and the main course. Two couples then team up for bringing either starters or dessert that they have prepared together. This is great since it takes a lot of the pressure off when you can skip making two courses as hostess, and it is also fun as a guest to be involved in one of the courses. And to stick to the theme, the evening will start with some pink bubbles...

Have a sparkling WEEKEND!

Follow your bliss in (a sweet) style [SUNSHINE STORY]

OUTER BEAUTY
This is a hilarious but wonderful example of following your inner gut and doing the things that really makes you happy. Chris Holmes is 31 one years old and recently became a father for the first time. Having worked on his own cake business during nights for several years, known as "Mr Cake", he now thought it would be the time to hand in his resignation as an officer at Stansted Airport in London. Imagine how it must have felt for him baking this special birthday cake, ending a phase and beginning a new era in his life, writing those words, in frosting...So, if you follow your bliss like Mr Cake, do it in style!

If you can´t read the cake;
To The Management,
Border Force, Stansted:
Today is my 31st birthday, and having recently become a father I now realise how precious life is and how important it is to spend my time doing something that makes me, and other people, happy.
For that reason I hereby give notice of my resignation, in order that I may devote my time and energy to my family, and to my cake business which has grown steadily over the past few years.
I wish the organisation and my colleagues the best for the future and I remind you that, if you enjoy this cake, you can order more at www.mrcake.co.uk
Sincerely,
Chris Holmes
