Totally crushing over...

OUTER BEAUTY
...the chambray shirt. A stylish fashion piece, that is actually more classic than trendy. I´m totally crushing over it because it´s so wearable. Great in colour. Great at home with the kids. Great at party with the right accessories. Great dressed up at work. Great for lazy, rainy autumn days. We need at least one denim shirt in the closet this season. (I have two and I´m looking for a third already...). Denim shirts can be found in classic brands like Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger. My favourite this seasons is this and this from J.Crew, tightly followed by this from Zara. (And they can be bought with a click from the comfort of the sofa...)

Happy Weekend!

Well, if you´re having a take away latte you might as well do it in style:)

Checking myself into...

OUTER BEAUTY
It´s Friday! What are you up to this weekend? I´m kicking it off by checking myself into an old favourite, the beautiful and lovely SPA Sturebadet . There´s nothing like the bliss and serenity at a SPA like this. So quiet and tranquil, even though it´s located in the middle of Stockholm city. Then, hopefully rested and ready, it´s stepping outside to lunch with girlfriends and gossip.

Have a fab FRIDAY!

Dreaming of (another) Tuscany retreat...

OUTER BEAUTY
We are continuing our dreaming of Tuscany this week...After all, it´s autumn and season for Italian comfort food. And there´s something about the light and the greenery in the landscape there...So let´s head to hotel Castel Monastero. This place just went straight up to the top of my must-visit-list. Why? Except for being beautifully located in Tuscany and being a member of Leading Hotels of the World (always promising:) it has a chef named Gordon Ramsey. That´s good enough for me after eating in one of his restaurants in London last year. Castel Monastero also has the most amazing high end SPA section, which requires a post of it´s own next week. As one of the hotels many celebrity clients says about the spa and its own world known doctor: “- Dr. Ali amazes me. His treatments always work!"says Kate Moss. (And she should know after more than a decade in the beauty industry.) So when are we going?

Best of Pinterest today

OUTER BEAUTY
Well, this days "best picture of Pinterest" took about ten seconds to choose. After this rainy day I have no problem at all dreaming away and seeing myself spending time here. I wonder where it´s heading? Somewhere in the Mediterrenean maybe. Or even more far away. Anyway, looks fantastic...

Oh rainy day!

This is a day of rain. You know when you just know that it will continue to rain all day long. You can tell it from the rain. It sort of drops very consistent and doesn´t change. So, this is a perfect excuse to stay in. Start that project. Read that empowering book. Maybe even bake a cake. Try to keep the energies high anyway. To embrace the fact that it is definitely autumn, again. Have another cup of tea. Light a Diptyque candle. That´s the day I´m aiming for. I hope you have a great day too!

Pinterest Picture of today

OUTER BEAUTY
Since I do a lot of Pinterest, and being slightly obsessed with it...I´ve decided to run a "Best Pinterest picture of today" every day this week. Today; a walk in closet to die for. That marble on the island with all the practical drawers, and everything in blue...and those lamps on the wall. This room is much more than dressing, don´t you think?

From haute couture to haute homes

OUTER BEAUTY
One of haute coutures most beloved designers is Valentino, creator of magical evening dresses one can mostly only dream of. (Tip! Discover his gorgeous and much less expensive underline "RED Valentino"). With Valentinos beautiful fashion in mind he simply must have beautiful homes as well. The designer owns luxurious places in London, Rome, New York and pittoresque Gstaad in Switzerland, but spends much of his time in his home outside Paris, the Château de Wideville, a magisterial 17th-century residence built by Louis XIII’s finance minister and later home to one of Louis XIV’s mistresses. Valentino acquired the eight-bedroom château in 1995 and commissioned the interior decorator Henri Samuel to make it "comfortable yet regal". “We did every room together,” Valentino says of their work, to Architechtural Digest October edition. “I am quite particular and love to put my nose everywhere. Even if I admire the decorator, I have to say my opinion.” Well,
the man clearly has good taste, and although this unique home definitely doesn´t feel right for a family with lively children, it does inspire as maximalism rather than minimalism and that many different colours actually do work well together. Read the full story and see many  more photos in latest print edition of Architechtural Digest.

The Monday Pep talk!

INNER BEAUTY
It´s great to have role models in life. It can be in any topic like fashion, beauty, self development or business. In the latter I have a handful that I like to read about and take inspiration from. One of them is Reid Tracy, President and CEO of Hay House, the largest self-empowerment publishing company in the world and a great source for wellbeing and personal development. Being a hugely successful business person promoting some of the worlds bestselling authors and having created a widely successful online platform (and a lot more than that), I think Reid Tracys' top ten advices for becoming successful is well worth sharing here. The last one, "success takes time" is an important reminder in a media world mainly focusing on "over night success stories", when for 99% of us it takes a bit longer than that. I think all of Reid Tracys advices are really good, e.g "following your leaders" (we know copy-paste:). Which of them inspires you most on a Monday like this?

10 Ways to Start a Successful Writing,
Speaking or Business Venture

Take Action Today
Stop talking about it and starting doing it! Take action to move your dream forward. It’s never too soon or too late to start making your dream a reality—whether it’s a book you’re writing, a new project you were just assigned, a business you’re now running or a wild idea you’ve always wanted to pursue.

Try Something New
Nothing ever happens when you conduct business the same old way day after day. Try something new!  Try out new ideas and see if you get different results. Remember, everyone benefits from your successes. And the only one who remembers your failures is YOU.

Get Real about Your Finances
One sure thing about your financial projections for your new business is that they won’t be correct. That’s a hard fact to digest, but it’s true. Your business will either do better or worse. Be prepared to emphasize the successes of your product and eliminate or reduce the failures as quickly as you can.

Polish Your Product
The most important thing you can do to insure a successful business is to create a unique “word-of-mouth worthy” product. Make sure that it is the best it can be. Invest in whatever time and tools you need to make it shine.

Power Up Your Platform
Your platform as a writer or savvy businessperson is your direct connection to your audience. It’s as simple as that. For more tips, I highly recommend a very powerful book by Michael Hyatt (former CEO of Thomas Nelson) called Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World. (Read "top ten blog tips" based on this book here).

Learn to Give a Good Speech
Follow the advice of Eleanor Roosevelt when she said, “Do one thing that scares you every day.” One of the biggest fears many people have is speaking in front of an audience. There are two tips I can give you and this is from someone who wasn’t fond of speaking in front of people either.
1: Practice makes perfect.
2: Watch the speakers who move you most and learn from them.

Follow the Leaders
Spend time researching 10 leaders that you admire most in your field. Study their Facebook pages and websites. See if you can incorporate any of their ideas into your platform. I’m not suggesting that you take their exact ideas. But I am saying that it is okay to mimic success. No two people have the exact same way of presenting their message.

The Power of Collaboration
Work together with others in your field or industry to help promote each other’s message. You don’t have to do it alone. Form alliances to mutually benefit you and others.

Be Passionate
The best way to touch the heart of your audience is when they see how passionate YOU are about your message.

Success Takes Time
Give yourself a realistic timetable to be a success and then take action to make it happen. And let me remind you of something that may be hard to hear. But it’s something you must accept as a writer in today’s publishing world. It takes 10 years to be an overnight success.
